Preparing for Your Mini Session

Whether you've done this one hundred times or you've never had your photo taken, a little refresher and some tips to help the session go smoothly!

Wear something comfortable that you feel confident in!

You’ll have a much more enjoyable shoot if you wear what you’re comfortable in! It’s a quick shoot, so there’s not much time to adjust a one-year-old’s bowtie or a dress you can’t move in. We want to capture you at your happiest and most at ease. Consider wearing shoes you don’t mind wearing in grassy or mulched areas.

Come prepared to be photographed and move around!

While we want to take time to get your photos, coming prepared to shoot (makeup done, snacks eaten, hair brushed) will help us get the most out of our session together. If you need to arrive early to get your little one a snack or let your pup run off some steam, please do! The parks we shoot in are public and they are beautiful places to wander while you wait for your session to begin. Our photography style is more candid than posed, so expect to be walking around, chatting with your loved ones, and taking movement direction from your photographer during your session.

Consider colors & patterns.

We recommend avoiding small patterns or tiny stripes that moire on camera. For fall we recommend something that will pop against the color of the trees, like a dark orange or navy. Please avoid any logos, large brand labels, characters, or overly bright colors and neons. Neutrals and reserved tones are the way to go for a truly memorable portrait.

Be prepared to get weird!

Everyone is different in front of the camera. Some people love it, some people hate it. The prompts we give are designed to help you relax as much as possible, and get the best portrait we can even if you are nervous. So be prepared for us to ask you to do something weird! It’s for the good of the photo! :)

Payment & Cancellation Questions

Payment is accepted via Apple Pay, Zelle, Venmo (@francisandlouise) or by check. You will receive an invoice via email for your session. If paying by check please bring your check to the shoot so we do not have to wait for the mail to deliver your photos! Photos are only delivered after full payment is made. If you are going to cancel please let us know as soon as possible.
